You’ve been in a car accident. Or a crash. Or a collision. Whatever you want to call it, it wasn’t your fault, and now you’re messed up. What should you do?

Should you…

Call the police? Maybe, if the injuries and property damage are high enough. Or if Jack the Ripper crashed into you.

Call your insurance company? If you think it’s a reportable claim.

Call a lawyer who specializes in car accidents? If you think someone is going to take advantage of the situation or tell you “just hurry up and get better”. But that never happens.

Go crawl under the covers and go to sleep? As long as it’s late enough, I guess. More to the point, a good sleep will definitely help you recover more quickly.

The first few days

The first few days and weeks after an accident are the worst. You’re in pain and you hope it will just go away on its own, but what if it doesn’t? And every day that ticks by is another day Big Bad Insurance Company is going to use against you (“It looks like there was a failure to mitigate damages here…”).

In other words, it’s hard to know what to do. But that’s why we offer free consultations: when you don’t know what to do, it’s a great idea to call a lawyer just to explore your options.

When in doubt, just call a lawyer

However, we’ve been conditioned to not want to call lawyers.

First of all, most people think that they are expensive. The reality is, we are pretty unique in the legal field because personal injury lawyers like us don’t charge for consultations.

Second, if you’re calling a law office, there must be something really bad going on. Well, that’s kind of true, you did just get hit by a careless driver with a gigantic, thousands of pounds weapon.

And third, you’re not some selfish money-grubber. Well, the funny thing here is that money is how you get your medical bills paid, your wage loss reimbursed, and your car fixed, so there’s that.

When you call our office, you’ll talk to a legal assistant first, just so the basic questions can be covered, like how the collision happened and how you are doing. If it looks like we’re able to help out, you might be transferred to a lawyer, or we might schedule an in-person consult.

Car accident lawyer at Anderson Law

Face to face

We at Anderson Law love scheduling in-person consultations. That’s the easiest way to get any paperwork or correspondence together in one room, and it’s just a nice way to get to know someone. I don’t know about you, but 2020 and the miracle of Zoom isn’t my favorite way to interact with others. That said, just let us know if you would like to meet in our office or by videoconference.

Either way, when we do talk to you, we’re probably going to tell you how important it is to focus on the positive and the things you can control. We’ll guide you to the medical treatment you need and deserve, and we’ll help you the best we can so you can slow down and get better on your own terms.
